Local Priorities

Anti social Behaviour - Blakelaw

Issued: 9 May 2026

Status Update

A problem solving multi agency approach is being taken with the local authority, housing, Youth Justice Service, Safer Transport Initiative, Youth Outreach Provision and Stagecoach buses. Collectively, we are using ASB legislation such as a public spaces protection orders, dispersal notices and Community Protection Warnings along with our normal arrest and summons powers to address issues.
Plain clothes operations, including a Trojan bus operation with Stagecoach, have been deployed to hotspot areas along with Hi Viz uniform patrols alongside local Authority enforcement officers.
February 2026 has seen the launch of our multi agency EPIC NOW (Newcastle Outer West) team. They are a bespoke proactive team that will address priority issues across Newcastle Outer West. The first deployment has been to Blakelaw with the launch that occurred on 20th February.

Overnight Vehicle Crime

Issued: 27 Feb 2026

Status Update

The Neighbourhood Policing team together with the Neighbourhood Support Team and High Impact Team continue to tackle this issue through analysing the crimes, crime prevention advice and proactively targeting known and identified offenders.
A series of excellent arrests of target offenders at the end of 2025 saw significant reductions in offending, however there are opportunist criminals that go around trying car doors which are often left insecure which account for approx 90% of reported vehicle crime. We encourage all residents not to store valuables in vehicles and double check your vehicle is locked.
